One month ago, Opera Kelowna hosted their 2018 Gala, Carmencita, at the Innovation Centre. It was a memorable evening of delicious food, great drinks, and stunning performances.

The event started with a VIP reception in the Accelerate Okanagan lounge. Guests were treated to Organic sparkling wine from Summerhill Winery as they listened to speeches, an operatic solo, and the loveliest rendition of happy birthday. We loved seeing the fun costumes, as guests were encouraged to dress in either Spanish or Steampunk theme. The hats alone were worth the price of admission.

After the reception, we moved downstairs to the atrium for the main event. The space was completely transformed with red lights, a stage, and props in line with the Spanish steampunk theme. Toque Flamenco dancers and two local ballerinas served as an appetizer to the main course; a sneak peek at Bizet’s Carmen, formed by the stars of this summer’s show.

Showcasing the arts is a priority for us at the Innovation Centre. We were so happy to host this event and to support the local arts community. These world class performances had us itching to buy our tickets to the summer performance of Carmen. Tickets available here:
